Fantabulous! I loooove the colors in this. Makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. :)

Nice! I love the colors in the piece, which is weird because I'm not usually loving those warmer colors. ;) The dress looks great too, I love the way it falls around her on the ground. I feel like the texture in the grass and trees could be bumped up just a bit to give more variety on the foreground though. I'd also like to see the lady with less chin (she looks a bit manly) and since she looks so thin, maybe a more defined collarbone. Perhaps a little more cranium too.

It's looking very good--I think this is my favourite of the palettes I've seen you use so far. The blue sky and the warm reds go together beautifully. I'm very impressed.

mkay.. I think i fixed her face.. I might fuddle around with the foreground there.. thanks for the crit maggock=]

i agree, amazing colours! the background is perfect.
but now some critics }:]
the forehead seems small to me; in the reference photo the point of view is low and that can have confused you (mmm or maybe the face is too big for the whole head)
Also, with the light from below, the top lip should be darker and the chin less contrasted (more light on the neck).
I hope that you do not take to badly these critiques, the picture is great in spite of what I say to you.
Errm and sorry for my english {ó__ò}

The light isn't strong enough to reach that far.. it's a dying light.. =]
Thanks for the crits though -nodnod-

Well I dig it. The style reminds me of a tempra painting. The use of color is very warm as is the lighting. The only crit I have is the lack of ambient lighting on her chest and stuff. Other than that (and thats just me) I dig it man!

Great colors and contrast. It has a "layered watercolor" effect that's nice, and the colors are rich. :) Good job!

^^ fixed up her face some more.. it's a little less 'long'

great colors! i love the design of the dress especially the starfish like end. the face looks much more real than in your other works. (thumbup)

I knew Pyrex was good, but who would have ever though it could contain the last light of summer?

I always enjoy your work shadogirl, and this piece is no exception. I really love the color palette you've chosen, definitely conjures emotions of fall (makes me think of a harvest party).

Only crits would be that I don't really care for the hands too much, and I think the sky might have looked better being toned down a little, maybe completely cloudy with the blue highlights. Nothing major though. Excellent job!

With your two last pieces, your range of colours and subject has broadened nicely;
I like it a lot!

Really nice! I don't know how I missed this in the Member's Gallery! :) I like how saturated the colors are...it's really striking.

As for crits...maybe a bit more texture on the left trees would be good?

Really nice though...!

Avatar shadowgirl

 09/24/03 @564

yup.. I was gonna look into that -nodnod- I was letting it sit for a day without me looking at her to find any thing I wanted to change.

(oh, and it was like.. in the members' gallery for like.. 2 minutes -l- right after I submitted it was bumped out by other pictures.)

Avatar maggock

Augh! You did some more work, I can tell; the face looks totally awesome now!

Avatar francis

 09/25/03 @306

Very nice - definitely autumn feel with the color palette.

I think the lighting could be played up a bit in the environment - it's great on the figure.

Avatar Artimus

 09/25/03 @514

Beautifully warming. Autumn never fels so nice since, since I can't remember...So nice it feels the entire work.

Can you fix up alittle bit more the dress, in the bottom left of it, where it touches the grass?

Great work :), and here are my points too

Avatar carpenoctem

 09/25/03 @871

It really has a wonderful autumn feeling. And I like the face (personally I think it's one of your best faces so far).

Great mood and colors. Beautiful work. Maybe the face looks slightly distorted, nothing serious. That makes me feel like painting myself something for the contest.

Avatar gridlock

 09/27/03 @181

I'll give you +7 for this - - - there is wonderful color contrast in this - - - - however, there's something about it that seems to have a piece missing - - - - I really can't put my finger on it - - - a terrific image all the same! You're well on your way to the Elites!

Nice colours going on. Looks like you just need to improve your anatomy and brushwork.

Avatar shadowgirl

 09/27/03 @217

-LOL- it's the foreshortening on the arms =] what I think she's picking up

I just don't have any *TIME* to go back into it at the moment at all, but those arms need a relooking at and there needs to be some better lighting. (I think that's what you're seeing grid.)

My brushwork is fine though, at least in my opinion. I'm happy with it. -g-

I'll probably be poking through all the crits i've gotten from here and a few other places and look into this one again, because *I* really really like it, and I want to make sure it's all good.

Shadow, mebbe warming up the sky would be a good idea-- its going really cold compared with the hot rest of the piece.
Hope this helps.

Avatar shadowgirl

Art4Med -looks out the window right now- sky looks blue to me =] and it's COLD outside. it's in the 40's.. Falls like that. It's got a crisp stark BLUE sky and fire on the land. That's my favorite part about it.

I like this a lot though the way her hair flows irks me for some reason lol...other than that this is absolutely lovely....such color!! And the trees in the background look amazing to me....And I really like your grass. ;) Just curious..how does she get around in that dress?

niveus

 10/14/03 @199

lovely pallete! although I feel the face could use some defining, especially the shape, as well as the arms, The dress is absolutely gorgeous though, and your backgrounds are always stunning.

Avatar Dave

 10/14/03 @873

Very nice...i think this has the potential to work very well on a shirt. The colors are fantastic, especially on the dress. As people have mentioned the fore shortening on the forearms is a bit weak, and I think the face could use some more work. All in all, a very good effort.

Avatar visualvoice

 10/23/03 @352

Laura. This is another gorgeous piece, but it lacks story. I know that it has story, but the kind of "story" that bites you on the ass. That you can figure out walking by it in 5 seconds. It's all there, but the focus of the passing (of autumn to winter) seems tame ,,, wrong word... um I guess just hard to make out in a causual observance.
Something I would love to see hanging on a wall so I had time to study it and take it in.

arenhaus

 10/23/03 @695

This shows potential but looks rather unfinished, combining rich details on the dress with rather rough trees, beginnings of a good color scheme with rather primitive anatomy, etc. I encourage you to work more on it and pull it to the level it really deserves!

Avatar shadowgirl

 10/24/03 @150

visual: yea. that's pretty much how I work (wall art..) so it WAS a bit tough trying to get information in there without too much information.

Arenhaur: eh. I like it the way it is.. thanks anyways =]

lostwriter

 12/31/03 @344

It's great! The bottom of the dress looks kind of like the bottom of the trees; sort of like it's seeping into the ground to form roots. Then again I might be crazy too. But, it's great. I really love it.

Avatar JordanRoots

wow that's perfect. I really love the idea of the tree insted of her feet. She looks awesome. Great textures. The background is very well detailed. Somuch details everywhere, that must have taken you a lot of time to finish it. The trees look quite realistic.
I would like to give you more but it's my max. 8/8
